Cat owners will tell you that owning such a pet will take work, despite the independent that these animals tend to enjoy. Assisi Animal Health can agree, but do not think that this has to be needlessly challenging. Owning a cat is not only good for your health, but it can be rewarding in many other respects as well. For those who would like to learn the essentials of cat care, start by following these do's and don'ts.

DO be mindful of signs of aggression. Like any animal, cats can become aggressive due to a number of reasons. Some of them might be tied to the natural instincts of felines, while others might be the unfortunate byproduct of mistreatment by other owners. Regardless, you have to recognize when your pet is being aggressive, before taking the time to train him or her. This will help your pet's behavior become all the more relaxed.

DON'T go overboard with your treats. The main reason why pet owners give their cats treats is in response to good behavior. There is such a thing as going overboard on treats, though, especially when you think about the lack of nutrition that these products have. Sustenance matters, so don't sacrifice your pet's regimen. This is yet another important tip that companies such as Assisi Animal Health will be able to offer.

DO brush your cat's fur from time to time. While cats bathe themselves, reducing the level of work required on your end, this doesn't mean you should entirely leave maintenance to them. As a matter of fact, brushing your cat's fur will keep it clean, not to mention healthy-looking. It's a great way to spend time with your pet as well. Consider brushing the fur on routine basis in order to increase your pet's quality of life further.

DON'T think that scratching is a bad thing. Even though you might see scratching as a negative trait for your cat, you must understand that it's natural for them to do so. It's simply a matter of maintaining it, which can be done in a few ways. One of the best is by investing in a scratching post, which is great for keeping their attention. The fact that it can draw your pet's attention away from the furniture makes it all the more worthwhile.
