To say that teaching tricks to dogs can be challenging would be an understatement. This is especially true when you think about how many of these tricks tend to be complex. However, others are relatively simple and chances are that you're already familiar with them. When it comes to the simplest dog tricks that you can teach, here are some of the most prominent that the likes of Assisi can tell you about.

"Sit" - If you're going to teach your dog tricks, you should start with "sit." Not only is it a relatively basic command, but it's one that aids in the process of behavioral improvement. If you feel like your pet is becoming a bit too rambunctious around the house, "sit" is a great way to keep him or her situated. While this is a common trick that dogs can be taught, it's an essential one all the same.

"Speak" - Another trick that your dog can easily learn is "speak." Much like "sit," it's practically designed to help with any behavioral problems that a pet might have, meaning that it's an important one to pass down. The more that you build upon this trick, the easier it'll be for you to control your dog's volume. Companies such as Assisi Animal Health will agree that this is yet another essential trick to work on.

"Roll over" - When it comes to the most enjoyable tricks to teach, "roll over" is one that should not be ignored. With that said, though, you have to understand that it will take time and effort for this to be taught, more so than the tricks discussed earlier. It's also worth noting that "roll over" can serve as an effective platform for other playful tricks, "play dead" included. Needless to say, your time will be well-spent focusing on this.

As you can see, there are quite a few tricks that your dog can stand to learn, with some being easier to pick up than others. What this means - and I'm sure that longtime pet owners will agree - is that you have to be willing to learn. You must also be open to making the long-term commitment that teaching tricks entails. By putting in the effort, your dog will be able to perform a variety of tricks, from the simplest to the most complex.
